It is an atmosphere of excitement and jubilation all over the community of Ikeji Ile Ijesa as a new Radio Station, named Vicinity 95.3FM takes off in the community.

Founded by a United States of America based Nigerian medical doctor, and a son of the soil, Prince Dr. Abiodun Badewa, the Radio Station was established to join others before it to lend its hands of supports to the people of the community, natives of Osun State, Nigeria and the global space in general.

Julius Adegunna was at the mountain top premises recently to see to the progress made so far, and in an interface with the Chairman and the founder, Dr. Badewa who promised that the test transmission would be starting soon.

“By the time it comes on full swing, the radio station shall be the new face of the community and its environs, it shall beam its reportage on the neighbouring states as well as to network between Nigeria and the global community.”

The station according to the promoters would be opened to enhance grass root developments, developments and promotions of creative and performing arts, facilitation of smooth relationship between the government and the people, and efforts shall be made to encourage the people in business and agricultural development through many innovative programmes.

Dr. Badewa added, “All I can tell and assure our people is to expect balanced reporting, bordering on education, information and entertainment. We will be out to assemble the bests in the industry, and by the grace of God Ikeji Ile will complement what our Sister town Ikeji Arakeji is known for as a bastion of education and spiritual development as Christ Apostolic Church is well rooted there.”

Other opportunities expected by the rural and the neighbouring communities are provision of employment for the professionals, giving a voice to the voiceless and bringing attention to the community and the larger society.

“We expect the promoters bring along young and experienced vibrant and experienced minds who have proven over the years to be dedicated to excellence and professionalism in broadcasting and journalism.”

The current team is led by Mr. Winston Akpabio, a veteran broadcaster who is well identified with the success stories of Daar Communications, owners of Ray Power FM, AIT and other broadcasting stations.

Akpabio is an experienced broadcaster with passion for giving listeners an enjoyable and engaging experience with an array of skills in music presentation, radio programming, programme research, production, and marketing. As a leader, he has managed teams in different capacities, from being in corporate communications in previous stations to leading the new outfit.

Meanwhile, fellow sons and daughters of Ikeji Ile have been expressing their joy over the new development, hailing the promoter who is also the Asiwaju of Ikeji Ile Ijesa for always having Ikeji ile in his mind despite living far away, even outside Nigeria.

Also lending his own voice to the feat achieved by his sibling, Prince Ezekiel Badewa expressed his joy to PTL News how he also felt excited about the development.

According to him, “It is a thing of joy, honour, perfect adoration and grace of the almighty God that made the aspirations of the Chairman and Founder of Vicinity 95.3 FM to come to reality.
