Vicinity 95.3FM, a new private radio station just established in Ikeji Ile has been graciously commended by participants at the recently concluded Synod of The Ijesa North-East Anglican Church which took place in Ikeji Ile, one of the towns under the diocese.
The Rt. Revd. Joseph Alaba Olusola, the Diocesan and the president of the Synod in his Bishop’s charge devoted a good portion of his address to commend the initiatives of the founders of Vicinity FM and their supports for the Diocese especially on the occasion of the convocation of the Synod.
In his words, Bishop Olusola said, “It is with great pleasure that we commend the initiators of the newly established private radio station, Vicinity 95.3FM, in Ikeji Ile, a key town within Ijesa North-East Diocese.
“Their visionary effort in setting up this radio station is a testament to their commitment to the development and enrichment of our community. This endeavour is not only a significant milestone for Ikeji Ile but also for the surrounding towns that will benefit from the station’s broadcasts.”
He added, “We celebrate their dedication and foresight, recognize that this station will serve as a powerful medium to foster communication, education and spiritual growth.”
Bishop Olusola has also been invited as a special guest to speak ahead of the synod. Few of his lieutenants among which were Venerable Edun, the Diocesan Clerical Secretary, and Venerable Adegoke the Vicar in Charge of St Jude’s Anglican Church, Ikeji Ile have been part of beneficiaries of Vicinity gesture in preaching weekly sermons on the radio.
In the same vein, the Ajalaiye of Ipetu Ijesa, His Royal Majesty Oba Samson Agunbiade Oke who was also at the Synod also commended the Vicinity FM initiative and told all within and outside his domain to listen to it and patronise it.
He said, “Vicinity is our own, and it really gladdens my heart to know of the establishment of Vicinity FM. I am very happy that it belongs to us. It is our own and we will do all we can to make sure that we promote and patronize it. Let me assure you that I will be there to be part of the programmes there.”
Meanwhile, Vicinity FM has started a special programme dedicated to the Royal fathers tagged Royal Father of the week, where their guests are interviewed on their various experiences, achievements and challenges in their jurisdiction.
Vicinity FM has featured the prominent Royal Fathers in Ikeji Ile, in persons of the Akeji of Ikeji Ile, Oba Adebayo Ogunmokun Adetemi IV, and the Olura of Ira-Ikeji Ile, Oba Julius Oluropo Fatanmi.
