History has been made once again by The Redeemed Christian Church of God led by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye by concluding the first Convention of the Church held without participants converging at the over one million capacity 3×3 Kilometre auditorium at the Redemption Camp of the Church located at Shimawa by Shagamu, off Lagos-Ibadan Express Road, in Nigeria.
To reflect the state of the world ravaged by Coronavirus otherwise known as Covid -19, the Convention has been held successfully drawing participants from all parts of the world via the instrument of the internet. It is very clear that many other Churches would follow the Redeemed example.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God is reputed to be the fastest growing Church in the world with presence in all parts of the world.
The Convention was held featuring major teaching sessions led by the General Overseer Pastor E.A. Adeboye, and one of the most powerful sessions was the Holy Ghost Service on Friday August 9, when Pastor Adeboye preached the message on Seven Things About God That Are Wonderful.
The theme of the Convention was Wonderful. At the Thanksgiving on Sunday the General Overseer preached on the Wonders of Praise when he pointed out Seven things God could do for those who praise Him.
According to him, when someone praises God He would break all protocols to bless the person, He could humiliate the person’s enemies, He would destroy every yoke keeping the person in bondage, He would open the prison doors as the One with the key of David in His hand, If you praise God He can bring your future to the present. He urged the people to learn how to praise God, explaining that even though God works according to His time table, He could bring the future to the present and put new things into the future.
He said, whenever prayers fail, try praise, adding that what prayers of three years cannot do, praise of three hours would do it.
In a similar development, the theme for the next Convention has been released by Pastor Adeboye. According to him the theme is A New Wave of Glory, while the theme for the December Holy Ghost Congress is It Is Time to Fly. Pastor Adeboye mentioned this at the end of the annual Convention on Sunday which was concluded with thanksgiving Service.
However, there were some activities that could not be carried out because of the virtual nature of the Convention which was the 68th in the series. These were graduation of new students of the Redeemed Bible College, Baptism of new converts, ordination of new ministers of God and the ordination of the newly promoted ones.
