The Christian Community has once again been thrown into mourning as the death of Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel, the founder of the Christian Pentecostal Mission, has become a public knowledge. Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel died at the age of 78.

Rev. Ezekiel passed on days after the death of Nomthi Odukoya, the wife of the founder and Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju Lagos.

The death of Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel was announced by the church in a statement during church service at its headquarters in Ajao Estate, Lagos, on Sunday.

This was followed on the Facebook page of the Church via a statement signed by the Coordinator; CPM Int’l Imo State, Nigeria, Rev. John U. Ezeh, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees.

The statement read, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I am saddled with a responsibility to all sons, daughters, friends and lovers of Christian Pentecostal Mission International (CPM) to make an official announcement by the authority vested on me by the National/International Coordinator of CPM International,  that our father, mentor, our General, our Field Marshal, the man that saw the vision, the man that began the race, the man on whose shoulder we’re all climbing, the Founder and General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, REV. DR. O. EZEKIEL, has gone to be with the LORD just a few days ago.

“Before his departure, he had been telling us to keep the vision alive, and the fire burning: that the mantle is with us; the glory is with us while he goes to wait for us to come over when the time is ripe.

“This was a man whose doggedness in the gospel gave him a title, ‘Demon Destroyer’; the man who is best known as a teacher of DIVINE NATURE. He has left his mantle with us to continue where he stopped to move the CPM to the next level. He came, he saw, he conquered, and triumphantly he left. Transform Triumphantly, our General, till we meet at Jesus’ feet.”

Meanwhile, condolences messages have been pouring in from the Christian and larger community, to the Church and members of the decead’s family.

Rev. Supo Ayokunle, CAN President, commiserating with Rev. Mercy Ezekiel, CPM family and other Christians, described the late God’s General as a rare preacher and mentor to many.

The CAN President, speaking through his Media and Communication Assistant, Rev. Bayo Oladeji, stated: “CAN commiserates with CPM and the family of late Rev. Obiora Ezekiel, the great servant of God who left an indelible foot print. He was a teacher of teachers and pastor of pastors. He was a terror to the kingdom of darkness, no doubt we will all miss him greatly. We pray that God keeps his wife, his family and the church.

“The church should not mourn but rejoice that the great servant sure ended well and has relocated. So it is left for us still living to ask how our end will be and make adjustments.”

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has also condoled with the family of the Founder and General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev Obiora Ezekiel, over the passing of the clergyman.

A statement signed by Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman, said that President Buhari believed the religious leader demonstrated love, peace, and joy in pursuing his passion for soul winning, and worked assiduously for the growth and spread of the gospel within and outside Nigeria, holding outreaches.

He noted the deceased’s role in raising many spiritual sons, who have also moved on to mentor pastors, evangelists, and teachers, commending his vision for founding the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

The President urged prayers for the family of the departed, particularly his wife and spiritual partner, Rev. Dr. Mercy Ezekiel, praying that the Almighty God will receive the soul of the renowned evangelist.

The deceased in his hey days known as the Demon Bulldozer operated under the five fold ministry gifts as an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. He was a dynamic man full of integrity, transparency and discipline, who truly wanted to please God and would not touch anything that is not validated by the scriptures.

According to the Church management, an update would be given on his burial plans.
