Pastor Oluwatoyin Joel Ajibola of CAC Mountain of Possibility headquarters, 7, Adeleke Street, Olubondu, Ipaja, Lagos turned 60 on June 13, 2023. PTL News was with him when he shared the story of his birth, his growing years and call to the ministry and his present exploits in Christ’s kingdom business.
My Birth
I was born on Friday June 14, 1963 in Irare Ekiti, in the present Ekiti State. My mother told me that my birth came after a morning prayer programme and she gave birth to me inside her living room. My elder brother now Pastor James Aremu was the one that threw away the bath water used to watch me on the day I was born. Due to early stage of sickness that besieged our town then, it took the grace of God for me to survive at the age of three in 1966.
At a time I was thought to have died but by the little faith left in my mother I was brought back to life. Due to the sickness I started my school very late, when my mates were going to school at the age of six I started late at 8. It was a period when you had to touch your left ears with your right hand before you could be registered into primary school. I went to school in 1969 I was not registered, because I was not tall enough. It was not until 1971 when a teacher who recognised me said I should register.
I finished my primary school in 1977.
Education and survival
Because of family problems I had to go and work as a clerical assistant with the then Lagos State School of Agric, Ikorodu Campus. After working for two years I later got admission into Ikorodu High School in the year 1979 to 1984.
In 1984 due to some rancour in my school then I was asked to repeat my class but I couldn’t withstand the shame, I had to be taken to Erinmope High School, Ekiti State where I later finished my secondary school in 1985.
Life as a Driver
After my secondary education I came back to Lagos. I could not further my education. I had to begin learning driving through my master then, Mr. now Pastor Folorunso Owolabi popularly called Baba Lara. I started driving Molue, water tanker, school Bus for consecutive two years at Ikorodu and its environs.
Call into the Ministry
In 1987 I was led by the spirit of God through Pastor M.O. Mojuba that I was needed as an evangelist because I was very fervent as a member of the Light of the World Society of CAC then, and in CAC Men’s Association. Though I was young I was the secretary of the association at CAC Araromi at Oke Gbeegun, Ikorodu.
Before then, I used to have dreams and later a lot of messages came from ministers of God, I later accepted that truly God wanted to use me which made me start my ministerial work on September 18, 1987 under my able Prophet Sokede the then Lagos District Evangelist.
Life in the Church and Ministry
It took me one year nine months of consistent marathon fasting at CAC Shiaba, Agege under the supervision of that Prophet D.O. Sodeke who happened to be my spiritual father and mentor. I was posted to Oshodi District in November 1989. I worked for only two months at CAC no 28 Macaulay, Mushin where I was transferred to CAC Oke Isegun, Igbesa, Awori land, Ogun State.
The then Lagos District Superintendent Pastor F.A. Faniyan later transferred me from Igbesa to CAC General headquarters, Ebute Elefun, where I reported as an evangelist and a visiting evangelist to CAC Owodunni, Coker Bus Stop, Orile Iganmu where I spent five months. Baba Faniyan later obtained an admission form for me to go and study diploma in Theology at CAC Theological Seminary, Opa Ile Ife between 1990 and 1993.
After my graduation I was posted to CAC Oke Ire, Babayemi Street, Agege 1993 to 1995 where I got married on April 9, 1994. I was later transferred from Oke Ire to CAC Oke Isegun, Okeleye Street, Oshodi.
I had my degree in Theology and diploma in Communication Arts of Lagos State University (LASU). CAC Akinyele Region gave me the opportunity to serve as Security Coordinator during the Centenary Revival. I am still a member of the executive till date.
Due to a sudden occurrence, I was later transferred on May 1, 1995 to CAC Mount of Possibility, Ipaja to date. I was ordained in 1999 after 12 years of serving as an evangelist. God used me to plant CAC Mount of Possibility, Ipaja, Itele, and an Assembly at Oke Imuse Ileri, Ayobo founded by an evangelist under me.
Celebrating 60 Years
I have celebrated a lot of birthdays but this 60th is so unique in my life.
When I look back a lot of my mates have died, those that we were born about the same time, those that we schooled together, there were those that we worked together that are no more. I even lost my first wife late Deborah Ajibola on February 19, 1995 after a child birth. I later got married to Lady Evangelist Ruth Ajibola.
At 60, I feel fulfilled. I can feel the impact of God in my calling. At 60, God has given me the grace to move round the entire parts of Nigeria. I have travelled far and wide. It’s only one state Bornu that I have not reached in Nigeria. God has used me to train some ministers that are doing well in the ministry today.
High points of the celebration.
Because of the grace given to me I decided to celebrate with some widows, we are going to feed and empower 100 them as part of the celebration. We will visit orphanage home and a less privileged woman will be helped. We are planning free medical check-up where we will give out recommended glasses to those that have eye challenge. We plan to visit Area P Commander because I am the Chairman of Adeleke Street, Market and Church Avenue, the longest Street in Olubondu CDA. I want to make sure that I dedicate our street light and complete it.
After my celebration I want to begin an auditorium of 7000-Seater auditorium built on one and a half acre of land which I have already purchased.
D-day
I was born on June 14, but the celebration holds on Sunday June 18, 2023 at One Event Centre, Olude Bus Stop, Ipaja, Lagos. We are expecting the likes of Pastor Gideon Oladokun, Itire DCC Superintendent, Pastor Olatunde from Idi Oro, Pastor I.A. Agun Oniwaya DCC, Pastor G.O. Obiwale, Kosofe DCC Superintendent, and Pastor R.O. Oluwarayi, Ipaja Zonal Superintendent are the fathers of the day.
There will be awards for helpers of my ministry, there will be a Foundation in my honour for helping some people. It will be supported by the generosity of my fans.
Life Lessons
At 60, my advice to the coming generation is to be focused, studious and not to depend on anybody as a parasite because anything could happen in life. Once you are 60, try to minimise some stressful things you do, some of them could amount to gradual killing. You have to work less, don’t overuse your legs, don’t overuse your body, don’t overstress your brain, drink water, run away from energy drink, it kills.
I will also like to advise people to focus on people, and use whatever is at your disposal to build, help and support them, once you die judgement follows. Let your life be full of emulation.
Persecutions
I had my own share of persecutions in the ministry. I can remember what I discovered in 1987 when I was supposed to be earning N300 as my salary, I was being paid N120 by my boss, he would still take my tithe of N1.20 out of it. How did I know? One day my Oga was sick and he sent me to go and collect our salary from the headquarters. He warned me not to open the envelopes, but the man at the headquarters told me to come and sign my own pay on the voucher.
That was when I knew how much I was supposed to be earning, that my salary was N300. When I came back I handed him the envelopes. He asked me if I opened it I said no and he handed me my salary.
The second time I felt persecuted and betrayed was when I lost my first wife. Many of my friends forsook me. I had to go from one programme to another to feed my young child then. There was a day I trekked from Oke Aro, Ogun State at 3.40 am and got to Abesan at 9.00am. That day I was so bitter. There was another district where our boss was collecting our salary from Ibadan.
Yet there was another time I sent a subordinate out for a revival. He was living with me. On getting there I discovered he was having an amorous relationship with the wife of the Church Pastor. He took the wife of the associate pastor. That was a disappointment. There was a day I was kidnapped or robbed about 11.15pm and was kept inside the booth of my car till 8.00am. I was locked up inside the booth of my car. They left me inside the booth and went away. I had already defecated inside the booth. It was when I began to punch the booth of the car that policemen came and opened the booth and saw me. They all thanked God for me.
I think they used my car for an operation. My advice again to ministers of God is that if they want to go out in the night they should not go out alone. I have been robbed a number of times. But when we are more than one, they don’t dare do it.
Other ministers expected are Pastor Gbade Ojo, the immediate past Chief of Staff to late Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and the General Overseer of Sanctuary of Christ Evangelical Ministry, and Pastor Olusola Fayegbami are also expected from Ibadan.
