The death has been announced of the former President of Christ Apostolic Church, Pastor John Dada Obafemi. He died at the ripe age of 111 years. He was the 5th President of Christ Apostolic Church from 1993 to 1997. He was succeeded by the late Pastor E.H.L. Olusheye, the 6th President.
According to Pastor S I. Obafemi, son of the deceased, the transition of the patriarch took place around 7:00 am on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
Pastor John Dada Obafemi, was a pastor and World War II veteran from Nigeria. He celebrated his 110th birthday on 20 May, 2023.
In his sermon at the 110th birthday of the deceased last year, Pastor James Abe of Christ Apostolic Church, Babalola Experiment 1930, disclosed how Pastor John Obafemi had been neglected by the country and church, saying at 110 years Pa Obafemi was still staying in a rented apartment.
He said, “I Pastor Abe, feel ashamed, I should cover my face in shame because of that, all our Leaders here, retired or in service, should please cover their faces in shame for such negligence. The High-Ranking Officers of the Nigerian Army should feel ashamed and their Commander in Chief that a World War 11 Veteran is living in a rented apartment.
“Though our father is at the closing chapter of his Life, something worthwhile needs to be done for such a Gallant Soldier in the Military and also as a Christian Soldier.”
Pastor Abe said there was the need to build an orphanage in his name to serve as remembrance, while calling for the launch of such orphanage immediately.
Pastor Obafemi retired from the Service and from the Office as the President of CAC Worldwide in 1997.
Pastor Abe narrated that about three years ago, the celebrant called him and told him what the Lord showed him in his dream and that he interpreted it to mean that the time of his departure from here drew nigh.
“Brethren, this might be the last birthday of our Baba Obafemi. Therefore, try hard as an individual, to get whatever you may need from our Baba Obafemi before his inevitable home call which is being delayed by the fragmentation of our great Church, CAC Worldwide,” he said. In an emotion ladden tribute, Pastor Sam Femi Omotoso wrote on the unfulfilled dream of Pastor Dada Obafemi.

“Today is another day of mixed feelings for all members of Christ Apostolic Church, World Wide, regardless of which side you belong! CAC, an organisation that prides herself as the “Mother Of All Pentecostal Aladura Movement In Nigeria, had lost one of her earliest founding fathers!.
BABA JOHN DADA OBAFEMI, had gone to rest at a grand old age of 111 years, penultimate on 23rd Nov, 2024. His death had left a very BIG QUESTION in the mouth of every genuine lovers of PEACE within the nooks and corners of CAC Nigeria & Overseas! “WHEN WILL THE POWER TUSSLE BETWEEN ESAU & JACOB COME TO AN END?”
He of course added the following lessons from the life and death of the spiritual figure
“Lessons From His Death : -1. Never live an issue unresolved for too long! 2. Every war has a starting point, but no one knows when and how it will end! 3…Often times, the PRINCIPAL ACTORS in any conflict, usually don’t live long enough to clear the MESS they started! 4…When TWO ELEPHANTS fight, as the saying goes, it is the GRASS, that will suffer! In this case, 34 years of “Bitter & Wicked Struggle For Power” had inflicted a DEEP WOUND on the Church, which may take eternity to heal! 5… Sometimes, the wishes of GENUINE PEACE MAKERS are not realized in their lifetime, thereby rendering their efforts useless & less impactful!”
He concluded, “BABA OBAFEMI, like many of his contemporaries, desired to see one glorious indivisible church, prepared and ready to meet with the HEAD OF THE CHURCH, TRIUMPHANT, our Lord Jesus Christ! Alas! This is not to be in his lifetime! It is now a dream unfulfilled! Which way to go CAC?”
Meanwhile, the President of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele who also confirmed the incident, has sent a delegation of CAC Leaders, led by the General Superintendent, Pastor Emmanuel Olatoro Odejobi to pay condolence visit to the family.
