Pastor Elijah Oluwagbenga Fadeyi, has been appointed and installed to take up the mantle of his late father, Archbishop Michael Awofe Fadeyi as the General Overseer of the Christian Faith Assembly, the Church founded by his father.
The installation took place on Sunday 10th September, 2023 at the Church headquarters 46/28, Fatai Irawo Street, Ajao Estate, Off Airport Road, Lagos.
The installation was performed by the Lagos State CAN Chairman, Bishop STV Adegbite in the presence of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Religious Matter, Rev. Bukola Adeleke, and some of the friends and associates of his late father like Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Abatan, Bishop Moses Adedipe, and other men and women of God.
The inauguration also saw the induction of Rev. Oriade Edun as the General Secretary, Rev. Ayodele Michael as the General Evangelist, and Rev. Gbenga Dada, General Evangelist.
Pastor Gbenga Fadeyi, the new General Overseer, a Civil engineer by training was born by the Church Founder and General Overseer, Late Archbishop Michael Awofe Fadeyi.
The installation which was held alongside the Church anniversary had Divine Help as the theme, and various men of God at the programme were there to pledge their loyalty and support for the young General Overseer.
Rev. James Akinwande, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Church, in his remark thanked God for being a witness of the day, and called for continued prayers for the newly installed General Overseer, the leaders and all the Church members.
His words, “I thank God for this day, and for this happening in my presence. I thank God for this Church and all that stood with us during this transitional period, for their prayers and counsel. Please, don’t stop praying for us.
“As a person, I believe heaven is our goal. Whoever offended me I forgive, because heaven is our goal. Elijah is my son. Everything you are going to do make Jesus the anchor. Let us see the Holy Spirit as the only One to make us finish well.”
To Bishop Oridota who was a very close friend and an associate of the Church founder, he was thankful to God for seeing the junior Fadeyi taking over the mantle of his father. He called on all leaders and members of the church to cooperate with the General Overseer and support him in prayers and indeed.
Also in attendance was Pastor Samuel Oladunjo Ausi who is Pastor Fadeyi’s father in law, who in his remarks charged the newly installed General Overseer to remain humble and obedient, saying, “Obedience is better than sacrifice. Never be full of yourself. Remain respectful to all your members, to those who are either older or younger than you. You are still under those that nursed you to this level.”
The Chairman of the day, Chief Michael Oyebanjo Paul, the Chairman of Mopson Pharmaceuticals Ltd, who was also an associate of the late church founder.
He said, “I regard Baba Archbishop Fadeyi as my father. Baba allowed Pastor Fadeyi to stay with me. I support his appointment. He is my son. I pray that he will succeed.”
At the service were eminent and distinguished ministers of God like Archbishop Yemi Fatade, Bishop Julius Akindele, The Rt. Revd. Dr. S K. Okunade, Rev. Dr. Paul Odebode, Bishop Mike Chidindu, Rev. Dr. Olu Johnson, Pastor Moses Ayantade, Rev. Dr. Taiwo Olutade, Supt. Evang. Segun Odunaike, Bishop Ezekiel Ajibola, Bishop Isaiah Bello, Bishop Adebayo, Coordinator of Isolo, Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria and a host of others.
Other groups represented to felicitate with the new General Overseer were members of the 94 Set of Mafoluku Grammar School Old Students Association, and Civil Engineering Students of The Polytechnic Ibadan.
The installation was witnessed by ministers and members from the various branches of the church. The church has branches in Iyesi, Ajuwon, Alagbado, Somefun, Imota, and Onimaalu in Lagos and Ogun States.
