His death which came as a rude shock to the whole world has been attracting messages of condolence from well-meaning persons including presidents, governors, and personalities sympathising with the 79-year-old General Overseer and his wife over the death of their son.

Meanwhile, a special burial arrangement announced by the family began on Sunday May 9, 2021 at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom where the deceased pastored. It was followed by a night of Thanksgiving songs and tributes held on Monday, May 10, between 4 pm and 6 pm, at RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was rounded off with a Farewell service on Tuesday, May 11, at the Youth Centre, also at RCCG Redemption Camp.

There was a harvest of tributes on Sunday as the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, at a service of songs held in honour of the late Pastor Oluwadamilare Adeboye.

The Church was filled as members from various parishes in the state came to pay their last respects.

Clergymen, including the resident pastor of the Living Faith Church (a.k.a Winners Chapel), Eket, Pastor Afolabi; General Overseer of Glory World Church, Eket, Pastor Samuel Effiong; Zonal Pastor of RCCG Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Pastor Timothy Mulero and others paid tribute to the late pastor.

Youths of the Province 5 said in their tribute: “We are missing you dearly. God enabled you to pioneer the work of the youth province from nothing to a position that is being admired by all.

”Your love for hard work and excellence made every one of us sit up and work with you. You taught us that only failures make excuses. With that, we got immunised against failure.”

Resident Pastor of City of David, Vincent Okolosi, said the death of Pastor Adeboye left a big vacuum not just in the parish but the entire RCCG and Christendom.

“He was a strong pillar to the Church and the youths in particular. He lived a life of sacrifice and generosity. He used his resources for the work of God,” affirmed Pastor Okolosi.

The music director of the City of David Parish, Iheonye Emmanuel, said he worked closely with late Pastor Adeboye.

“He was generous and completely sold out to the service of God. He embraced everyone and was accessible despite his tight schedule.

“I can’t count the number of youths he paid school fees for or the number of people he gave capital to start their businesses,” Emmanuel said.
