The one year memorial service for Archbishop George Amu the founder of Goodnews Miracle Bible Church, Oshodi has been held.
The service was held on Sunday 9th January, 2022 with friends and associates of the late cleric in attendance. Among these wre Rev. Solomon Adegbolagun, Bishop Charles Olu Odus, Apostle Femi Agbebaku, Rev. Mrs. Adeyemo, Dr. Morenikeji and a host of others.
Bishop Odus in his message reminded the congregation that death was a way of life for all and it behoved Christians to live a holy life, and as such Bishop George Amu would be remembered for his good works and benevolence to everyone that came across him.
“For Daddy George Amu nobody could stop death from taking him away, not his money, not his personality, or friends could stop death but it was because his time had come and he would be remembered for what he did for the people that knew him.”
Bishop Odus further listed some of the things Bishop Amu would be remembered for and these are, “his faith in Christ, he was a giver, he was a bold and fearless leader in saying the truth, he was a caring father and loving husband to his children and beautiful wife, he was even a father to many, as he had his biological children so he had his spiritual children and he took good care of everyone. He was an exemplenary leader to emulate, he was also a faithful man unto his God,” quoting some of his memorable quotable quotes.
There were others who also tesified to the impactful life lived by Bishop George Amu.
Said Pastor Success Olorundami, “One wise said we will be remembered for the problems one created and the problems one solved. Baba Amu knowing me introduced me to many people who became my destiny helpers, and we thank God for his legacies.
“He wasn’t perfect but he did his best,” said a family friend adding that “What I knew about him was that he directed the lives of those who came to him to the right path. He helped the less privileged to get education and employment, and he was a good giver. He was a mentor to many people who have grown to be men and women of substance in the society today.
The members of his church and all that believed in what he stood for were charged to run with the vision of the late cleric.
Bishop George Amu, a native of Sabongida Ora in Owan Local Government Area of Edo State was born by a Police Commissioner, Late Pa George Benson Amu. While alive he was at a time the Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria in Lagos State. He started his career at BEWAC before going into private business. He was married to Rev. Mrs. Modupe Omolara Amu who led him to Christ, after coming back from England. He is survived by many children and grandchildren who could not be part of the service due to the prevailing global environment ravaged by Covid 19 pandemic, as they were all outside the country.
