Ministers of God have been told to get trained in local languages in order to be able to spread the work of the ministry locally and effectively. This call was made by Pastor Henry Odeneye the President of the United States based Harvest Point Ministries, in one of his trainings organized in Lagos.

Dr. Odeneye who was of the view that Africa remained the centre of harvest for believers urged African preachers, pastors and evangelists to understand their local language and use it to evangelise.

He explained that converts should not only be found but there should be great emphasis on disciplining them.

The man of God who is the convener and minister in charge of Dagunduro, a Yoruba prayer meeting in the United States of America God has been using him tremendously in the promotion of Yoruba language for the purpose of evangelism through the Harvest Point Ministries.

According to him Harvest Point Ministries is a Christian organization that is highly committed to reaching out to the seemingly neglected rural residents in African not only with the gospel but with other material supports that can improve their standard of living.

For years Pastor Odeneye has successfully come to Nigeria to train ministers of God on how to be highly productive and efficient in grassroot evangelism.

The theme for the year conference tagged in Lagos Ministers’ Conference was Turning Local Churches Into Ministry Training Centres. It was well attended with ministers of God from major church ministries and denominations, as well as rural evangelists and missionaries.

At the conference, it was pointed out that it is not enough to teach and perform miracles at crusades and revivals, but only consistent training and discipleship would make the converts to stay.

Torching the five-fold ministries, Dr. Odeneye pointed out that Apostles are to guard, Prophets guide, Pastors grow, Evangelists gather while Teachers ground.

“The teacher are ready to work, but many of them don’t have the formal seminary training, they have the zeal but without knowledge,” and this he said was the gap Harvest Point Ministries, through its International School Of Ministry (ISOM) fills.

He also disclosed that the ministry Harvest Point Ministries in partnership with The Good Shepherd  Ministry/International School Of Ministry in the United States of America has acquired the complete curriculum of theological teaching materials translated into Yoruba, and other local languages in audio and visual formats.

“With the audio visual, and handout in hand and soft copies with great teachers like T.L. Osborn,  you can run your bible school with our grants in the ministry. The teaching materials are made available to trainees in about 12,000 centres, 140 countries and in 60 languages covering Arabic, French, Yoruba, English, Igbo, Swahili, Twi and many others with 160 sessions.”

Through Dagunduro, Prophet Odeneye has invited the likes of Iya Efun Evangelist Iyabo Ogunsola, Shola Allyson and Tope Alabi to Minister in the programme held in Houston, Texas, the United States of America.
