The death has occurred in Lagos of Lady Evangelist Janet Adunni Olumuyiwa, the wife of Rev. Samuel Olumuyiwa, one of the leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Okota, Isolo, Lagos and the General Overseer of Calvary Gospel Witnesses Church, Okota, Lagos.
Mrs. Olumuyiwa joined the saints triumphant on Saturday December 18, 2021 and was buried on Thursday December 30, 2021 at the Church premises in Okota, Lagos.
The funeral ceremony began with a Service of Songs and Christian wake at their 18, Hamidu Williams Street, Okota, Isolo on Wednesday with family, friends and fellow ministers of God were in attendance to pay tributes to the fond memories of the deceased. Centre For Righteous Living CRIL of which Primate Olumuyiwa was a prominent member was led by the National President Rev. Dr. Adegbolagun and his wife, Street landlords and landladies, and some indigenes and members of Abeokuta, Ogun State Christian Fellowship.
Other members of the Non Governmental Organisation present included Apostle Oridota, Prophet Adeniji, and others like Bishop Joshua Oladimeji, Apostle Balogun and other clerics from Christian Association of Nigeria.
The service of songs was well used to eulogise the departed Christian Amazon.
Late Mrs Olumuyiwa, according to Rev. Dr. S.A. Mann, a very close family friend and an associate of Primate Olumuyiwa, was a woman of God all through.
“We brought her to Christ and she ran the race to the very end. She was very caring right from her early life. As a friend to Baba Olumuyiwa, we could eat anything as friends but the moment she joined her husband that stopped and she would always ensure that we ate at home. Since we married her she would never complain about anything in the home. She would always make food ready whatever inadequacy.
Anytime she had any misunderstanding with her husband she would always be the first to apologise. She was that very humble and respectful.”
To one of her cousins even from a muslim background, Mama Olumuyiwa was an inspiration loaded with words of God and prayers. She was always positively minded and encouraging. I learned the use of the word of God from her; and to her children the deceased was very caring, kind and prayerful.
The deceased according to Lady Evangelist Elegbede was a good singer and an amiable choir mistress.
“She was very cool and calm, generous and kind. She would always make sure we ate anytime we came to choir practice. She is a woman we can learn a lot from. We hope to meet at the end of the age. She has gone to rest and may her soul rest in perfect peace.”
In the words of Okota CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr. Jesuniyi, “We used to call her Mama CAN. She was very patient, gentle, respectful and humble. One other thing I noticed is that she jointly used her phone with that of her husband showing the closeness and the bond between them. She was a loving wife.”
In his message at the service of songs, the CRIL leader, Rev. Solomon Adegbolagun thanked God for the beautiful and assuring tesimonies people gave about the late Mrs Olumuyiwa, as he enjoined the families and well wishers not to mourn but to appreciate the good life she lived.
Asking What Is It About This Life, the Apostle of righteousness in governance said the world was a place of one trouble after another, admonishing that everyone is on assignment on earth.
“The world is a market place. Few come and pick what they want while to others they keep on roaming about until the end of their existence,” submitting that “being on earth is not about time, it is not how long but what impact one has for God and humanity.”
He asked, “Do you know why you are on earth? Are you doing what God wants you to do? How do you know about your sacred assignment?”
In his answer he said, “Except you go back to your maker, except you come back to Jesus Christ, you are a wanderer on earth. Our assignment is to go and make disciples of nations, as not all Christians are Jesus’s disciples.
