Members of International Relations Alumni Association (IRAA) are set to meet in a historic gathering on Sunday December 15, 2024.
The gathering tagged IRAA Awards and Launch of N500Million Endowment Fund is billed to hold at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel, in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The event is expected to feature Lecture, Presentation of Awards, and Launching of Endowment Fund with Dinner Night.
The gathering which is exclusively for members is also expected to attract members from all walks of life and from different parts of the world.
The Alumni Association known for playing key and prominent roles in the maintenance and development of the Department of International Relations in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife parades prominent Nigerians in public service, politics, government, academics, business and the global system.
Among the current members and leaders of the association is the current Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi CFR, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Professor Kayode Soremekun, former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Oye Ekiti, and a host of others.
The association has a media marketing expert Chris Adetayo as President and Australia based High Chief Abiola Falayajo who doubles as the Vice President and the Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee.
The association has been playing key roles in infrastructural development, students mentoring, networking, among the Old and the Current students in the Department.
Speaking on a programme awareness session on a popular radio station in Lagos Prince Chris Adetayo disclosed some of the novel roles his association has played in the life of his department.
According to him, the association has equipped the department’s library with over 5,000 books, provision of computers, and a number of developmental and impacting programmes are held to facilitate relationship among members. Such programmes include seminars, The Bridge Series linking Students with Old members, Seminar for young graduates, Diplomatic Couch Series, and lots of others.
As attendance is strictly by invitation and it is limited to confirmed participants only.
“There will be special recognition and awards to some past lecturers, outstanding members, institutions, and some embassies. It will be a platform to say thank you for the impacts they have made in our life,” explained Chris Adetayo.
