The city of Ibadan the capital of Oyo State has been thrown into another mourning following the death of another prominent industrialist, philanthropist, community leader and a national figure in the state.

About few weeks after the death of Chief Bode Akindele the death has also been announced of Chief Isaac Ojo Akinmokun, the pioneering Chairman of Isoglass Nig. Ltd, a foremost windscreen manufaturing outfit in West Africa based in Ibadan.

Chief Akinmokun who died in his 80s was born in Ikeji Ile in Ijesaland. He started business as a humble bookshop owner and grew his business into a global player. He was the proprietor of Paramount Book shop in Mokola Ibadan, he was the Chairman of Isolak Motors, a motor trading company, he was one of the pioneers of the International Breweries Limited Ilesa, the brewers of Trophy and Malt drinks, he was also on the board of several other companies.

Chief Akinmokun was a recipient of National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON), and for his open heart he was also a beneficiary of many traditional chieftaincy titles. He was the Chief Bobagunwa of Ikeji Ile Ijesa, Chief Maiyegun of Ilesa, and the Agbaakin of Ibadanland.

A great philanthropist of his days, he was renowned to have sponsored many indigent and less privileged students in higher institutions in Nigeria and abroad.

In Ikeji Ile, his home town for several years he single handedly sponsored free distribution of notes and other writing materials for the pulpils of the local primary School, and many of the beneficiaries have become important and relevant personalities.

He is survived by his wife Chief Mrs. Patience Akinmokun, wonderful children and grandchildren.
