Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Pastor Elijah Oludele Abina, the General Overseer of Gospel Faith Mission was a year older. He turned the landmark of 85 solid years in the land of the living.
It was a harvest of tributes as members of his Church and well wishers across denominations all over the world wished the octogenarian the best of all wishes on his birthday as he was variously and delightfully described in glowing words and phrases to honour him on his birthday.
In one of the messages, the celebrant was described as a “father who serves as our mentor and our super hero, and they thanked him for all the things he had done for them.
Another message has it this way, “Celebrating our daddy, a real God’s general still active and consistent in the work of the Father…Wishing daddy God’s strength and wisdom to carry on in the journey. Happy Birthday sir.”
A highly respected Christian leader, Pastor Abina is one of the founding members of Gospel Faith Mission and one of the founding fathers of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
Pastor E O Abina became a full-time minister with The Gospel Faith Mission International in October 1962, resigning from his secular job from Arbico Limited, Apapa Lagos after a clear conviction from the Spirit of God. He was first, the Pastor-in-charge of The GOFAMINT Iwaya Church in 1963, then Pastor-in-charge of the GOFAMINT Mushin Church in 1966 and later promoted to become the District Overseer. Pastor Reuben George, the then General Overseer later appointed him as his Deputy, a position he faithfully served in until Pastor Reuben George passed on to glory in 1987.
After Pastor Reuben George passed on, Pastor Elijah Abina who was the then Deputy General Overseer assumed the leadership of the Church after a unanimous agreement by the members of the Church’s Executive Council. He was installed on January 8, 1988 at The GOFAMINT International Gospel Centre, Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Under the leadership of Pastor Elijah Abina, The Gospel Faith Mission International has witnessed tremendous increase in terms of numerical growth, geographical spread, financial strength and organizational stability. Today, the Mission has expanded from having 50 assemblies to over 2000 assemblies in Nigeria and in many parts of the world.
Today, at 85 Pastor (Dr) Elijah Oludele Abina is a teacher of God’s undiluted word of truth , an Apostle of holiness and an old time preacher with signs and miracles following.
Among the torrent of prayers and well wishes was for the anointed man of God to receive fresh anointing for good health and all round peace to live the rest of his life and to end well and strong in Jesus name.
