The final burial of the late educationist, businessman, community leader and politician, Chief Olabode Akinyele will take place in his home town, Ikeji Ile Ijesa in Oriade Local Government area of Osun State.
Chief Akinyele died on December 17, 2023 at a very ripe age of 87 years.
According to family sources, the burial arrangements begin with Lying in State at his residence, C106, Ayeyemi Street, Ikeji Ile Ijesa, Osun State on Friday 12th of April, 2024 at 10.00am. It will be followed by Christian Wake Keep, also at his residence at 4.00pm.
The funeral service takes place at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Ikeji Ile Ijesa, on Saturday 13th April, 2024 at 10.00am. Interment takes place at his residence, C106, Ayeyemi Street, Ikeji Ile Ijesa and the reception holds on St. Jude’s Primary School Playground, also in Ikeji Ile Ijesa.
While alive, he was well known as a thorough and well-bred educationist, author and a role model to many. He was a former principal of Esa-Oke Grammar School, Esa Oke, Bishop Phillips Academy in Ibadan, and United Anglican-Methodist High School, Ilawe-Ekiti.
An associate of the former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Akinyele was a very popular politician and community leader.

Chief Akinyele: A lover of children with a grand child
After retirement, Chief Akinyele lived the rest of his life in Ikeji Ile where he was installed as the Chief Olotin of the Community. He would be remembered as a very committed community leader, erudite scholar, open minded, generous and a role model to many.
Meanwhile, many sons and daughters of Ikeji Ile Community, home and abroad have been paying glowing tributes to the fond memories of the late community leader and educationist.
Sola Akinlade, a Lagos based indigene of Ikeji Ile wrote, “There is no other way to describe this sad development than a colossal tragedy! We have just lost a complete and veritable compedium of knowledge! He was a mobile encyclopedia as regards sound command of English syntax, both written and oral, not forgetting his flawless and unrivalled dexterity as regards history knowledge and expression! Rest in peace, Daddy!!!
Prince Ezekiel Badewa, one of his students in Esa Oke Grammar School also wrote, “Principal of principals. May his soul rest in peace.”
Adeolu Adejinmi described him as a “strong and committed Churchman to the core, an erudite scholar of great repute and a politician.”
His burial is expected to attract many eminent personalities, his old students as well as many of his old political and business associates.
He is survived by a wife, children and many grandchildren.
