The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele has called on Nigerian leaders to prioritize the welfare of the masses, emphasizing that their positions should be used to wipe off tears from the people’s faces.
Pastor Oladele made these remarks during a press conference at the recently concluded annual Pastors’ Conference of the Church held at the Babalola International Miracle Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, in Osun State.
In the interactive session with media men and women, the cleric, reflecting on the socio-economic challenges faced by Nigerians in the past year, urged leaders to draw inspiration from the first republic leaders of the nation such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, advocating for a leadership style that alleviates suffering and brings hope to the populace.
Confirming that the socio-economic crisis in the country did not spare anybody, the Church leader said, “The Church is not untouched by the adverse socio-economic hardships, yet we have reasons to express gratitude for God’s grace and favour”.
Notwithstanding this situation, he counselled: “If Nigeria is to thrive, we must take responsibility for the nation, love it deeply, and pray for its peace and prosperity, as advised in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 and Psalm 122:6.”
Also in a press release also made available by the Director of Publicity of the church, Pastor Ademisoye Alawode, the CAC President announced new regulations regarding the invitation of non-CAC ministers to officiate at Church assemblies. He mandated that any requests to invite external ministers must be submitted for approval at least 90 days prior to the event.
According to the report, Pastor Oladele clarified that “while the Church welcomes collaboration with ministers from other denominations, those invited must share similar doctrinal beliefs. He instructed that all applications for such invitations should be channeled through District Superintendents to DCC or Regional Superintendents for proper vetting.”
On the lingering crisis that has bedevilled the Church for over 30 years, Pastor Oladele expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the crisis that has divided the Church over the years, following the suspension of some senior ministers.
He encouraged the Church’s ministers to engage in prayer for unity, noting that recent informal meetings and joint prayer sessions between opposing factions signal potential move for final reconciliation.
The Pastors’ Conference held for all ordained Pastors of Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria, was held in Ikeji Arakeji, the spiritual headquarters of the church from Tuesday, 24th through Friday 27th September, 2024.
The theme for the conference was Spiritual Power and the Gifts for the Body of Christ.
