Recently, for two days, The New Seraph led by Iya Aladura General Dr. Mrs. Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye hosted the annual conference of the ministry. The conference attracted dignitaries among which were public servants, traditional rulers, officials and members. Dr. Mrs. Yomi-Sholoye delivered a thought provoking message on what is expected of the C&S of the next century, at the conference. PTL News here presents an excerpt of the address.
By all standards, our beloved Cherubim & Seraphim Church is a true pentecostal church where the entirety of the Holy Trinity dwells and the journey till this very moment is well orchestrated by the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father of Faith and Founder of C&S, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase whom I call with due respect was divinely inspired in bringing up this vision which has today birthed so many other visions all pointing to the salvation of souls for Christ Jesus.
Close to 100years now, the journey has been of “ups and downs”, good, bad and the ugly. Yet, you all would testify to what the Bible says in John 1:5
. “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehend it not”
Personally, I am so glad. And I’m pretty sure that you are also happy that the centenary celebration of Cherubim and Seraphim is just a year from now, which marks nine decades and exactly 9years of the great vision.
The Band as founded by our beloved Father, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase (Ajagunmokadi) has gone through a whole of metamorphosis from spiritual, biblical and evangelical point of view. Glory to Jesus!
Meanwhile, one cannot also write off the great damage done to the church as a result of Indiscipline, Careless and Carefree attitude, Struggle for Titles, Position and Power alongside wrong impressions created by bad eggs who feel the only hideout for their escapades is Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
But in all, here we are today; staying strong, keeping up the flag as established by God through our father, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolade.
And to those who see the C&S Church as being a local church, permit me to reiterate it to you that “that local church” has today sustained over 9 decades and another 9 years and this church is proud to be purely indigenous to Nigeria and Africa at large and it is the first that really broke the foreign pattern of everyone worshiping Almighty God.
The African patterns were inspired into C&S worship and this brought great uniqueness and joy into Christianity in Africa.
As the first indigenous church founded in Africa by an African – First African Prophet, it is no gainsaying that C&S Church now has several independently registered churches and has continued to be the pride of the continent of Africa as a religious organization using their local language to conduct worship services anywhere in the world. Truly, the white pap you see today might have come from a Black pot, we all can see today. Glory be to God Almighty – Halleluyah!
Dear Brethren, and especially fellow Seraphs here seated; may I ask you all that as we approach the Centenary of our beloved church – C&S, how do you see the Church in years to come?
What aspirations do we hold in our hearts for our great C&S Church?
If you ask us at The New Seraph, we will say that the future already promises to be outstanding for the church.
And if securing a greater future for our Dear Church is of high interest in our hearts, then Our focus going forward should be on the following:
1. C&S CHURCH WITH ZERO TOLERANCE FOR QUACK/FAKE PROPHETS:
We all need to really frown at any church whose leaders are full of fake prophesies. (1st John 4:1, Ezek 13:1-13, Deut 13: 1-13
Discipline means training that makes people more to be able to control themselves often in the form of rules and punishment.
2. C&S CHURCH WITH DISCIPLINE, ACCOUNTABILITY & TRANSPARENCY:
Accountability and Transparency must be instilled going forward through Church discipline which is the process of correcting sinful behaviour among member of a local church thereby restoring sinners to a right path with God and renewing fellowship among the church member. In some cases, it can lead to removal of an individual from church membership, like when the Moabites were banned from attending the synagogue for 1000 years being bastard (10 generations) (Deuteronomy 23:2).
“Good name is better than silver and gold.”(Proverbs 22:1)
Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principle, truthfulness, uprightness, perfect, pure e.t.c. Dishonesty is now celebrated in the corridors of the church. A good leader with integrity should not do anything that will damage his integrity (Image).
“JUDAS ISCARIOT” stole money from the church purse of Jesus ministry and also sold Jesus to his enemies because he lacked integrity. David snatched Bathsheba from Uriah because he lacked integrity. It is advisable to keep your integrity in order to execute the gospel successfully. (Proverbs 16:13).
3. C&S CHURCH WITH GOOD PRESENTATION:
How do we present ourselves, How do we communicate and what do we communicate within and outside the church, How presentable are we in appearance, in thoughts, in words, in carriage and our body language – these are parts of areas we should all look into so as to stabilize and sustain the Image we create in the mind of the people.
4. C&S CHURCH WITH MORE UNDILUTED WORD:
Moving forward, there is need for all stakeholders to see WORD OF GOD as a very vital ingredient towards ensuring direct Spiritual Encounter with God thereby winning souls to populate God’s kingdom.
5. C&S CHURCH ENCOURAGING MEMBERS’ PARTICIPATION IN POLITICS & GOVERNANCE:
We must encourage our members at all times to exercise their civic responsibilities to vote and participate in politics. Joseph administrated the economy of Egypt for the betterment of the Egyptians but it is inappropriate for any minister or layman to use the organization of the church or the pulpit, for propaganda of politics, as we need to correct the government at any point in time, it is fails to fulfill its manifesto for the betterment of the citizens. Prophet Nathan corrected the government led by David and reproved the leadership.
NOTE: Whenever Christians get involved in politics as an individual, we should make do with Paul’s suggestion. “Have no fellowship with unfruitful work of darkness but rather reprove them”. (Ephesians 5:11).
6. C&S CHURCH WITH ZERO TOLERANCE FOR UNGODLINESS/UNHOLINESS:
God is able to do all things, the Bible says “and upholding all things by the word of his power”. We must come to a point in our adventure with God where believe and hold unto God alone believing that whatever He cannot do, let it remain undone. Adding anything to aid God’s work is always an abomination, therefore must not be allowed to happen. He is God and takes responsibility for all kingdom affairs and take all the glory at the same time. Playing smart and pretending to help to do what He has power to do and much more is an aberration. Bringing in strange gods into the tabernacle ends up in pollution. Therefore, every strange god must be purged. Psalm 16:4, Deuteronomy 32:12
7. C&S CHURCH WITH YOUTH ADVANCEMENT:
I want to explicitly stress here that the place of EDUCATION cannot be overemphasized if truly we desire a brighter future for our Dear Church. We need to encourage ourselves as far as education is concerned. And by education, this applies to everyone of us.
Encouraging Our Youths towards academics is very important; Education for our Youths is non-negotiable and we as Members of Cherubim & Seraphim must strive towards widening our horizon in whatever specialty we find ourselves in.
Apostle Paul frowned at laziness by saying ” No food for lazy man”( 2nd Thes 3:10). When he discovered the lazy ones in the Church whose financial responsibility were taken care of regularly by those who are hardworking. God Himself made Adam a gardener in the garden of Eden and said “out of your sweat you shall eat” ( Gen 3:19).
NOTE: Having people come to church when should be working to meet their needs should not also be encouraged. (Ps. 23:1).
8. C&S CHURCH WITH PURE EVANGELISM:
As ever, the place of Evangelism should not be ignored. More new means of reaching out to people evangelically must be explored in the coming future.
In fact, we would have to be so deliberate and “aggressive” with whatever means are made available to us in this very generation in the name of Technological advancement.
9. C&S CHURCH WITH RELEVANCE ACROSS ALL SPHERES:
Talking about Relevance, this is not only about appearing on National Television, or pages of National Dailies and Magazine, but by having a huge stake in what goes on in the Polity of our Nation – Nigeria
In the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, and within all tiers of Government, We should have a very huge stake in determining “who determines what happens to us” as a church.
This would take me to making this special call on all Seraphs who Super Investors, Bank MDs, CEOs of Multinationals, Academic Professionals from all works of life to start looking towards charging a great course of ensuring that our dear Cherubim & Seraphim becomes more relevant in all areas of the polity.
And as they aspire, I want to encourage that we all as Member of Cherubim & Seraphim MUST wield our supports in all ramification for those who may take this step as this is one great step that will determine our future as Individuals and as a church.
10. C&S CHURCH PREPARING THE YOUTH FOR A SECURE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH
Some of our Dear Fathers in the Lord may not want us to talk about this but let me remind us of this sincere narrative which many of us fail to plan along with; times are passing and we are also passing along with times, but eventually, what happens when time passed and we humans also passed, yet we fail to have succession plan for the continuity of those great works The Lord has used us for?
The Youths are the future of the Church and as such, what becomes of our dear Church is the reflection of the kind of Youths we raise.
Therefore, we should never leave any stone unturned when it comes to training them aright when we are so strong and agile to do so. And having trained them, may I also charge us to ensure we allow these Youths to put what they know into practice right in front of us.
This will not only guarantee that we have a succession plan for ourselves, but will also safeguard the whole years and efforts we have invested in God’s vineyard.
11. C&S CHURCH BREAKING BARRIERS OF RELATIONSHIP (INTER & INTRA): Our Relationships with others within and outside the Christian Community must be improved on. I am glad that the C&S Church of today now has Members who are Heads or Chairmen of Joint Christian Bodies like Christian Association of Nigeria, and with that, I can say categorically that we can do better. Let’s do more by breaking Barriers; likewise, I should be able to attend Services of other Denominations and will be appreciated without being looked down on.
While I wrap up my speech for this session, I will also like to remind us that all what were said so far will only help our beloved C&S Church if we do all in Unity and Oneness.
In a year’s time, the Holy Order of Cherubim & Seraphim will be 100years and I’m sure you and I can’t wait to celebrate the church’s centenary, but as one indivisible Family of Orimolade, what do we have to show as a Church at 100years if not Unity and Love?
So, as we look forward to celebrating Cherubim & Seraphim Church at 100years, we really need to look into having a unifying voice of oneness – UNITY.
We need to let go of the past so that we can make room for the future that awaits us.
I therefore pray that may we never grow weary as a Church, may we find a new strength, a renewed grace to scale the utmost heights God has destined for our beloved C&S Church!
May our strength be renewed and our grace be restored.
Cherubim and Seraphim Church will soar to greater heights as we all fly on God’s wings of Faith.
