“What happened during the programme was beyond Me,” Says Host, Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi.

Days after the flamboyant and glamorous dedication of Love of Christ Generation Cathedral tongues have been wagging over some controversies emanating from the different calibre of people attracted to the event which permitted the flagrant violation of one of the Church doctrines.

The dedication had attracted the mighty and powerful in the society like traditional rulers, politicians, business men and women, prominent Christian leaders, and people across faith and interests.

The hordes of the attendees have also been criticised for wearing shoes inside the Church which is strongly against one of the principal docrines of the Church. The Church premises is usually regarded as a sacred place where nobody however highly placed should not wear shoes to enter the Church.

It was noted that very important dignitaries were seen inside the Church with their shoes intact on their feet.

These were the likes of Pastor Adeboye and his wife, the Ooni of Ife and other traditional rulers and several other dignitaries.

Some people have gone the extra length to criticise Pastor Adeboye’s wife for entering the Church not only with her shoes but also entering and sitting inside the altar of the Church. Ordinarily women are not permited to enter the altar of C&S Church being a highly revered place.

Leading in this controversial discussion was Primate Olorunfemi Ejide, of C&S Church, Ogo Sioni, in a You Tube telecast, where he pointed out some of these flaws of the respected philanthropist and the founder of C&S Love of God Generation Church, in the grand opening and dedication of her cathedral

Prominent among his criticisms was the wearing of shoes into the Church, even in the presence of the Supreme leader of the Church, Baba Aladura Solomon Adegboyega Alao. Primate Ejide and many of his followers believed that the dignitaries might not have been allowed to flout the doctrines of the Church.

Meanwhile opinions are divided over the express permission of dignitaries to enter Rev. Esther Abimbola Ajayi’s Church on the day of its dedication.

While some people were of the opinion that the Rev. Mother and host of the great event could be understood for allowing her guests to enter her Church without shoes, some others were of the opinion that it was an error which must not be allowed in C&S Church from whatever quarters and however placed such a person could be.

They pointed out that nobody however highly placed on whatever occasion could either enter the Celestial Church or their Holy Ground in Imeko, or even mosques with shoes on, and that these ought to have been conveyed to Rev. Mother Ajayi’s guests before coming rather than compromising a very strong doctrine and identity of Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

In a similar development, and in a swift in reaction to the use of footwear by invited guests during the dedication of her Church on Sunday, September 5, 2021, Reverend Mother Esther has Ajayi replied her critics over the violation of the doctrine of C&S Church. She said she was not out to change the laid down doctrines of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

Speaking during the 96th Anniversary of the C&S Church, held at Seraphim Land, Maba, Ogun state, Rev. Mother Ajayi said, what happened during the programme was beyond her and there was nothing she could do about it.

The female clergy rather urged members of the fold to focus on her effort towards the growth of the Church and not to look out for her faults. She however declared that she is on a mission to make those who matter to reckon with members of the Church.

“We have been sidelined as a Church, and all that I am doing with God on my side is to correct this. When visitors join us during vigil and go somewhere else to do testimony, does that speak well of us? That is cheating.

“I don’t want to dwell on the footwear issue. How do I control about 10,000 people who want to come and honour God? And it’s everybody that wants to enter at the same time. Do I somersault on them? When about twenty traditional rulers sat down. Even me that invited them had entered midway into the church before I realized that I was still on my footwear. It was inside the church that I had to remove it to give to someone.”

She pleaded with the Supreme Head of the Church, His Most Eminence Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao not to let anyone pollute his mind, but to rather stand on the rock of Christ. He also urged him to be thankful that the new developments in the Church are happening during his time.

The grand opening of Love of Christ Generation Church was graced by some of the biggest, and most notable personalities across Africa, with the former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and his wife, the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and his wife, and his Majesty the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Oba Saheed Elegushi, the Founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Agbala Itura, Prophet El-Buba, a Jos-based preacher, and former General Evangelists of CAC, Prophet S.K. Abiara, the media magnate and the publisher of Ovation magazine, Otunba Dele Momodu, and many more. The event was attended by Nigeria’s high society including traditional rulers from far and wide.
