Churches and ministries have been advised to encourage their members to learn and add writing and other media services to their training, especially when they hold seminars and conferences for ministers and Church workers.
This advice was offered by Julius Adegunna, the publisher of PTL News, The Christian Newspaper at a three-day International Conference organized by Battle Axe Ministers and Believers Conference hosted by Pastor Ezekiel Babatunde Akinbola, held in Owode Yewa, Ogun State.
Speaking on Becoming an Inspirational Writer, the publisher noted that like all other areas of calling, Writing should also be regarded as a divine call, in that it is a kind of specialized calling that does not only require some measures of divine gifts but also calls for the need to acquire and develop the skills needed to be proficient and attract excellence in the ministry.
He stated that “it takes, vision, passion and skill acquisition to develop oneself to the level of becoming an inspirational writer.
“To be a writer is for one to know and take up the challenge of writing, from our day to day ordinary scribbling of words on papers to the professional state of writing articles, reports and books,” he explained, as he also called on the congregation of ministers to regard writing as part of their ministries.
He went further to intimate the participants drawn across churches and ministries within and outside Owode to take writing as a complementary aspect of their five-fold ministries.
“Writing is a ministry, and it complements every other aspect of our ministries. A writer is also endowed with ancillary gifts of our ministries. Closely studied, a writer has the gift of a prophet, a teacher, a pastor, an apostle as well as an evangelist as he uses his gifts to operate in these offices.”
He therefore urged the people to take serious the gift of writing in the works of the ministry as he stated that writing was not limited to Church leaders or ministers alone but also members and church workers.
“We can develop our ministers and Church workers to write. Ministers’ sermons can be developed into messages, tracts and even books, which can be published physically into readable printed matters or even be sent out as messages on our phones and other electronic devices.
“As inspirational writers we are expected to write to give joy, to raise hope, write to bless, motivate, improve and develop our readers so as to help build a better society, against the hordes of bad news that are pervasive in the modern society.”
Adegunna also called on ministers and church workers not to remain satisfied by mere gifts but to work harder to ensure that they attain excellence and develop their skills in their writing by going for trainings formally and informally to enhance their callings.
Meanwhile, Julius Adegunna presently runs a Writers Training School as an arm of his almost three decades of PTL News, The Christian Newspaper. The School he said is run, online and physically for those that want to “discover and develop their skills in Writing.”
Also speaking about the Battle Axe Ministers and Believers Conference, the host Minister, Pastor Akinbola said the conference within its international dimension was raised to sharpen ministers of God as tools in the Lord’s hands.
According to him, this year’s theme is Behold the King of Kings which was held between Tuesday, 4th and Thursday 6th of September 2023 at Calvary Mountain, Beside Holy Child School, Off Ago Baba Road, Owode Yewa, Ogun State, and it was inspired to prepare ministers of God within and outside Owode axis on the need to prepare themselves as battle axe in the hands of God for the challenges of the contemporary gospel.
Pastor Akinbola expressed his thanks to Evangelist Adegunna for finding time to come and encourage the ministers on how to develop their writing skills, promising that such a training arrangement would be a regular exercise in the community.
The conference attracted the presence of eminent ministers of God like Rev. Alex Ezekiel, Pastor Akinwunmi, Rev. Akinpelu, Evangelist Mrs Okunola, Pastor Robert and Rev. Thomas.
