Says, “The Church is satisfied with his performance and we have agreed to stay solidly behind him for the success required for this second term bid at the poll.”
Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, a bloc of the Christian Association of Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the second term bid of the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu.
The body made the declaration on Wednesday at a press conference at the headquarters of The Apostolic Church LAWNA TERRITORY, Olorunda, Ketu in Lagos.
Speaking through the Lagos Chairman, Pastor Dr. Samuel Olumuyiwa Adeosun commended governor Sanwoolu for his giant strides in the management of the affairs of the state said, “The Church is satisfied with his performance and we have agreed to stay solidly behind him for the success required for this second term bid at the poll coming up on Saturday, 11th of March, 2023.”
The election to the positions of the State governor and State Assemblies has been shifted to Saturday 18th March, 2023.
Pastor Adeosun who extolled many outstanding achievements of the governor went ahead to list out the governor’s contributions to the development of Lagos in his first term in the area of good administration, infrastructure, education, religious harmony, provision of employment and building on the legacies passed to him by his predecessors.
“He is not the lousy type, else the 15 model schools he built with state of the art facilities, modern sporting equipment and equipping about 53 schools with libraries would have taken some people 15 months to commission on monthly basis causing gridlock and many man hour losses. But he decided to stay in one place as point of contact to commission all of them thus reducing amount being used on commissioning.
“That prudency in management of resources is very important for our political leaders from other states to emulate. Two of such schools are: Vetland Junior Secondary School, Agege and Elemoro Community Junior Secondary School, among several others.”
He also mentioned the Rice Mill commissioned at Imota, Ikorodu, which “has been acclaimed to be the biggest in Africa. That is another employment opportunity for our teeming unemployed youths. The mill is capable of producing 32 metric tons of rice per hour. That is one of the ways that the government is addressing the problem of hunger and self sufficiency in food production.
“Over the years, this administration has been very innovative in creating job opportunities for the ever increasing people that have always been trooping to Lagos for various means of livelihood because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.”
The cleric also commended the governor for his efforts in promoting smooth transport system in the state.
“The government of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu just commissioned the Blue Line Rail project and the Red Rail Line is equally in the pipeline, not to talk of the Fourth Mainland Bridge which although is capital intensive will greatly be solution to transport problem in Lagos.
“The government likewise is embarking on many capital projects all over Lagos without making noise about it like the 1.4km Pen Cinema Fly Over Bridge Agege; Abule-Egba, Oshodi, Yaba, Badagry Expressway, etc.”
The CPFN leader also commended the prayerful wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwoolu for her prayerful life.
According to him, “The governor’s wife: Dr. Mrs. Ibironke Sanwo-Olu also has a monthly prayer project where different blocs of C.A.N. sends different types of their members to go and pray for the first family either at Marina or Ikeja.
“That programme has made many Church members like cleaners, sexton, drivers, women and youths who would never have entered the government house opportunity of worshipping through praises, fellowship and prayers at that place. That will be a lifetime experience to many of them.”
Also speaking on how important the Governorship and House of Assembly elections were to Lagos residents, Pastor Adeosun also listed the uniqueness of Lagos as a cosmopolitan state that requires experienced, tested and trusted hands to pilot its affairs.
He said, “Lagos State is different from other states. In fact, many states come to Lagos to copy the laudable projects and programmes on going here. I don’t want to say that some of them are only after the wealth of Lagos and not that they want to work for Lagosians.
“In Governor Sanwoolu and his team we have seen performance, we will continue to support them. The Muslims in Lagos have also supported the candidature of Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat. This is about the first time that the governor and his deputy will be going for a joint second term ticket.
“We don’t discriminate in Lagos, we celebrate together and pray together. Let the others also come and see our brotherhood and love that exist between Christians and Muslims in Lagos. The Church asked for Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and he has performed creditably well, he deserves a second term and by the grace of God, he will have it. The church will vote for him; Muslims equally promised to vote for him en bloc; Lagos and Nigeria shall experience peace and prosperity in Jesus Mighty Name.
Before rounding off his address, the cleric called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a hitch free and credible election.
“Let me advise INEC to play according to their set rules by getting to Polling Units on time with every necessary material needed for hitch free poll; Security officials should beef up security in violent prone areas to ensure votes count, lives and properties are safe; the electorates should come out en-mass and vote without abuse or any form of violence.
“Let us show the world that we are capable of organising elections peacefully even in a megacity like Lagos without riots and loss of lives. Remember that, it is just an election and another one shall be coming in four years’ time.”
Also at the press conference was the Chairman of CAN in Lagos State Bishop Steve Adegbite who commended the CPFN leadership for the initiative as he joined other Christians to mobilise for a massive support for the governor, saying “He is one of us. He is a child of God and we have all promised to support him with our votes and we are sure that God will glorify Himself with his resounding success at the polls.
Also at the conference was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Christian Religion, Rev. Bukola Adeleke who called on Lagosians to come out en masse to vote for the governor and all members of the State Assembly.
At the conference were the members of the executive of the fellowship, including the Secretary, Pastor Dr. Dele Asaaju, the Public Relations Officer, Overseer S. O. Aluko, the Recorder Pastor Aladejare and a host of other senior members of the group. Read also, https://ptlnewsonline.com/cpfn-south-west-youth-wing-inaugurates-and-inducts-new-officers/

MATTERS ARISING: POLITICAL BAROMETER OF LAGOS STATE
Our duty as spiritual leaders in Churches is to be praying for our nations and the leadership for divine guidance at all times. We have never failed to do that in all our gatherings either in private or collectively as a body of Christ (Rom. 13:2-3)
We also have a duty to be the watchmen of the nation so that we can blow the trumpet when we foresee trouble before they unfold (Ez. 33:3-4).
Since the coming of this present unbroken democracy that we are operating, Lagos State is blessed to have highly intelligent people at the helm of her affairs who always come up with good programmes for the betterment of the masses.
The Church supported Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his two terms of eight years and another person that took over from him was Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola who continued the good work for another eight years.
The Church asked the party to give us a Christian candidate among them that are the political class and so they gave Mr. Akinwumi Ambode but he only served one term of four years and he could not win bid for a second term. The Church insisted that they must give us another Christian and so came Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu whose first year tenure is about to end and has won the nomination of his party for a second term.
The Church is satisfied with his performance and we have agreed to stay solidly behind him for the success required for this second term bid at the poll coming up on Saturday, 11th of March, 2023.
He is not the lousy type, else the 15 model schools he built with state of the art facilities, modern sporting equipment and equipping about 53 schools with libraries would have taken some people 15 months to commission on monthly basis causing gridlock and many man hour losses. But he decided to stay in one place as point of contact to commission all of them thus reducing amount being used on commissioning. That prudency in management of resources is very important for our political leaders from other states to emulate.
Two of such schools are:
– Vetland Junior Secondary School, Agege
– Elemoro Community Junior Secondary School, among several others.
The Rice Mill commissioned at Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos by this administration has been acclaimed to be the biggest in Africa. That is another employment opportunity for our teeming unemployed youths. The mill is capable of producing 32 metric tons of rice per hour. That is one of the ways that the government is addressing the problem of hunger and self sufficiency in food production.
Over the years, this administration has been very innovative in creating job opportunities for the ever increasing people that have always been trooping to Lagos for various means of livelihood because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.
They created LAWMA – Lagos State Waste Management Agency to effectively manage humongous wastes that people in this megacity produce on daily basis. It will interest you to know that Ghana came to understudy how Lagos was managing her waste and replicated same in her own country.
The BRT – Bus Rapid Transport system has shown us to the world as capable of meeting up with demands of developed nations.
LASTMA – Lagos State Transport Management Agency not only provided jobs to many unemployed people, it has been able to bring sanity to our roads and address the problem of gridlock in Lagos that usually result to stress and many man hour losses.
LASEPA – Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency deals with the health issues and complement the other sister agencies like LAHMA – Lagos State Health Management Agency to address the issue of medical insurance of her citizenry yet she gives free health facilities to under 18 and older citizens above 65 years of age.
LASWA – Lagos State Waterways Agency not only patrol our waterways to ensure that boats and canoes follow the safety guidelines to save lives in case of emergency.
LAGRIDE are buses and cars that produce near private services to Lagosians in their efforts to move from one point to another.
LAMATA – Lagos State Motorways and Transport Agency deal with issues that concern where the vehicles will pass.
COWRY – The automated card system through which Lagosians can pay for all government transport services like road, rail and waterways.
One of such body that interest me so much is LASDSVA – Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency where people can quickly report couples that are always fighting before one of them will kill another because the government is pursuing a programme that is zero tolerance to domestic and sexual violence.
All these bodies and agencies have personnel that have greatly reduced the unemployment problems in Lagos although government cannot employ everybody.
The government of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu just commissioned the Blue Line Rail project and the Red Rail Line is equally in the pipeline, not to talk of the Fourth Mainland Bridge which although is capital intensive will greatly be solution to transport problem in Lagos.
The government likewise is embarking on many capital projects all over Lagos without making noise about it like the 1.4km Pen Cinema Fly Over Bridge Agege; Abule-Egba, Oshodi, Yaba, Badagry Expressway, etc.
The governor will embark on the $60m private/public Lekki Deep Sea Port and we are being promised of Lagos State own Refinery.
The governor’s wife: Dr. Mrs. Ibironke Sanwo-Olu also has a monthly prayer project where different blocs of C.A.N. send different types of their members to go and pray for the first family either at Marina or Ikeja.
That programme has made many Church members like cleaners, sexton, drivers, women and youths who would never have entered the government house opportunity of worshipping through praises, fellowship and prayers at that place. That will be a lifetime experience to many of them.
As for the area boys and touts, l am aware that the government tried to organize Lagos State Garages and Motor Parks Agency to take care of them. We will continue to suggest best solution to their menace for the betterment of all of us.
WHY SATURDAY ELECTION IS CRUCIAL?
Lagos State is different from other states. In fact, many states come to Lagos to copy the laudable projects and programmes on going here. I don’t want to say that some of them are only after the wealth of Lagos and not that they want to work for Lagosians.
Some years ago, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wanted to address the power problem of Lagos industries by erecting the Emron Power Project but those at the federal killed that vision. I am sure that such lofty ideas will be resurrected in Lagos in his administration.
We have seen performance, we will continue to support them.
The Muslims in Lagos have also supported the candidature of Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat. This is about the first time that the governor and his deputy will be going for a joint second term ticket.
We don’t discriminate in Lagos, we celebrate together and pray together. Let the others also come and see our brotherhood and love that exist between Christians and Muslims in Lagos.
About those clamouring for change, we have painstakingly looked at the credentials of all of them and looked through the experience they had in governance before coming to the submission that you cannot just gamble with the future and prospect of a smart city like Lagos. Some of them need further tutelage to gain required knowledge for this exalted position.
Even companies that are owned by individuals are not just trusted into the hands of anybody. Such person must have proven track record of previous ability to deliver.
You don’t change a game midway;
You don’t change a promise keeper and put your future in the hands of untested hands;
You don’t just change for changing sake in a megacity like Lagos;
You don’t change success to failure.
The Church asked for Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and he has performed creditably well, he deserves a second term and by the grace of God, he will have it.
The church will vote for him; Muslims equally promised to vote for him en bloc;
Lagos and Nigeria shall experience peace and prosperity in Jesus Mighty Name.
LASTLY: Let me advice INEC to play according to their set rules by getting to Polling Units on time with every necessary material needed for hitch free poll; Security officials should beef up security in violent prone areas to ensure votes count, lives and properties are safe; the electorates should come out en-mass and vote without abuse or any form of violence.
Let us show the world that we are capable of organising elections peacefully even in a megacity like Lagos without riots and loss of lives. Remember that, it is just an election and another one shall be coming in four years’ time.
There is a better country after this place and that is the place we must strive by all means never to lose. That is the commonwealth of all true believers in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:12; 2 Pet. 3:13)
Thank You and God bless.
