“O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for His mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 136:1&2.)
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22-23)
Glory be to the Almighty for the breaking of August 27, 2021 which came as a memory of the day I was born.
For some weeks now, it was like the day would not come. The devil threatened, but God in His mercies prevailed.
While we were working on our July edition of PTL News, the Christian Newspaper which many people knew me for, and at the finishing line, before I knew what was happening, by play by joke Malaria crawled in.
It was the same edition we specially packaged for the funeral of our philanthropist and High Chief Isaac Ojo Akinmokun of Ikeji Ile, my home town.
We managed to finish it and I was set for my home land. I had prepared all things ready, but that malaria would not let me go.
I thought it was what could be handled mildly with Agbo, later malaria medical prescriptions. After the use of recommended drugs, it was like the situation got worse.
I had to go for a test and typhoid was identified, and treatment of typhoid fever followed. It completely broke me down for some weeks.
Experiencing something like this ahead of birthday celebration is not a good signal. It was a very tough and harrowing experience. The three weeks would remain a nightmare to my family and those that were very close to me. I cannot share all the experiences. They could rather be imagined than real.
But for divine intervention, God brought me back on my feet now strong and healthy. To Him alone be the glory.
While at home we heard about many very strong, wealthy and influential men and women who were swept away by wave of death, some with no warning ailment. But here I am, revived and restored.
Why should I not appreciate Baba God? Naturally, I am not the type of a person so keen on personal celebration. For a child of God, every blessed day is for celebration of the goodness and faithfulness of God. In this age of Social Media, everyone is a celebrity. One cannot hide under any shade of cover.
Before your day, Facebook has announced it to the whole world, and before you wake up for the day, some neighbours are already hanging around to be the first to say Happy Birthday. These days day come with no invitation unaanounced to come and celebrate you. One almost remains helpless.
When my day was about to come, a team of some friends and associates mooted the idea of celebrating it on air. I had to turn it down because of my state of health, and for some private reasons.
But the Social Media would not let one be.
The celebration was all over the world. Yes, in my almost 60 years on earth, by the grace of God, I have been able touch a number of people and make my marks in some places, in from birth, to education, works, officially and privately, and most especially we have been much more known by our efforts with PTL News, The Christian Newspaper.
All said, I will continue to covet more of your prayers, I still beseech you friends and well wishers to also join me in thanking God and fulfilling the noble assignment He has put in my hands.
I cannot but widely spread my appreciation. Just as I put on my facebook wall, I wish to express my appreciation to the Almighty God and the good people He has blessed me with from cradle to date, from far and near. No doubt the Social Media has made its users Celebrities. You do one thing, the whole world responds. Thanks to my social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp, among others. Someone called it a test of popularity. The world is said to be a global village, it has really become a global neighbourhood. They did a very good job in this regard.
So my appreciation to all my good people drawn from all parts of the world, friends, old and new, old school mates, colleagues from my St. Jude’s Anglican Primary School, Ikeji Ile, Ikeji Ile High School Old Students Association, mates and friends from the defunct Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile Ife, Great Ife Alumni Association, Lagos State University Communication Studies 2011 Master Class, Ministers of God, Fellow Writers and Publishers across various interest groups, my immediate Adegunna family, my brothers and sisters, my townspeople, members of my Street Land Lords and Community Development Associations, so many groups, individuals and associations.
I cannot thank you all enough. May the good Lord reward you for your good concerns.
This, of course has really resonated my firm resolve to keep on the good relationship with you all, and to be consistent in doing good to the best of my knowledge and ability, God helping me.
By the special grace of God, we expect a period of more strength and greater capacity for the coming harvest.
We bessech you to join us in the new dispensation to carry PTL News to the enviable heights which the Lord has destined it.
Let me take this advantage to equally congratulate and celebrate my birthday mates and colleagues across all walks of life. First and foremost is my special sister and friend who was a year older on August 22, Madam Feyi-Esan Keshinro, a renown broadcaster, singer and compere, the we all like to call Iya Gbogbo. All from her US base, she would stop at nothing to ensure my welfare, with materials and financial gifts. We have been coming together from our primary school day. She was very caring, sharp and brilliant, the virtues she still exhibits till today. My prayer is that the good Lord will continue to keep us in good health, sound mind, with the required wisdom, knowledge and understanding to live our years in peace.
There are also others like Elder Larry Onisuuru, he celebrated his diamond jubilee on August 23, congratulations sir. Apostle Adebanjo Olanigbogbo, Sister Esther Igbekele, and even all my Facebook and other Social Media friends and acquaintances, I congratulate us all.
Thank you. More of God’s blessings to you. Praise The Lord. To God alone be the glory.
