For Christ Apostolic Church, Transfiguration DCC it was a celebration galore as Christ’s Indelible Heritage came to the fore on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Church. The celebration was rounded off with a special Thanksgiving service on Sunday 26th March, 2023, presided over by the President of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele and some other top members of the church authority.
The celebration began with a 4 day open air crusade on Tuesday 21 to Friday 24th March, 2023 at Ifako-Ijaye Stadium at 5.30 pm each day. The programme has Christians’ Indelible Heritage as the theme with top anointed ministers of God ministering in music and the word of God.
Among these were Pastor IDO Akinpelu, Pastor Abraham Akinpelu, Pastor Joseph Adelakun, Evangelist Foluke Awoleye, Dr. Dunni Olanrewaju, Aduke Gold and the Transfiguration Mass Choir.
Also ministering in the word of God were Pastor J.O. Onibaba, the DCC Superintendent, Pastor Olusoko, Regional Superintendent, and Pastor Gbuyiro, CAC Youth Director.
In his sermon for the day CAC President Pastor Oladele charged Christians to go back to their foundation and cherished heritage to position the church to its deserved place in the society.
The cleric noted that it was because the church had abandoned its role that there are troubles in the church today.
“If you hear that there is trouble in the church today, it is because Jesus has been displaced. What many churches do is to remove the seat meant for Jesus and put themselves there,” he said.
Pastor Oladele, quoting 1Corinthians 1.23 noted that Christians and especially Pastors should rather preach Jesus Christ, and not the flamboyance being exhibited in the name of gospel these days.
“Paul told the Corinthians that they should preach Jesus Christ and not wealth, not riches, not motivation of this world,” he further explained.
He also noted that Cross is not an attractive object as being displayed in the modern days.
According to him, “Cross is an emblem of shame and suffering and not an emblem of decoration. Like an altar of burnt offering, it is full of irritation, smells and ashes of blood. What we are called to preach is the Crucified Christ, the cross is an ugly sight to behold and nothing beautiful.
“Our indelible heritage is the cross, not about breakthrough, success or motivational teachings, and we should not be ashamed of the power of the cross. Be ready to accept Jesus, the Christ crucified, our indelible heritage, no matter the situation,” he admonished.
In his welcome address the host minister, church planter and the General Superintendent of CAC, Pastor Emmanuel Odejobi told the congregation to be conscious of their heritage in the Lord.
He said, “Many Christians are living but oblivious of the heritage the Lord left for them before He parted from the world, and which is all we need to live, survive, be victorious and be a testimony to the goodness and greatness of God.”
At the service were the Church authority and their spouses, comprising the General Secretary of the Mission, Pastor Emmanuel Mapur, the Financial Director, Pastor Johnson Omitinde, the Mission Director Pastor Caxton Fasuyi.
Also in attendance were the Superintendent of CAC Akiling Region, Pastor E.A. Olusoko, Pastor Kayode Adio of CAC Atamatase, CAC Director of Publicity, Pastor Ade Alawode, as well as many other DCC Superintendents, District Superintendents, and Assembly Pastors.
