About 2,000 new pastors were recently ordained in a colourful ordination service of the Christ Apostolic Church worldwide.

The ordination which had in attendance all the Principal Officers of the mission took place at Babalola Memorial prayer Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, in Osun State of Nigeria on Thursday December 10, 2020.

The ordination which was ostensibly part of the send off ceremony of the outgoing President of the Church, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun seemed to have attracted one of the largest concentrations of ordinands of the Church.

Speaking in his welcome address as the Chairman of the Special ordination Committee, Pastor E.S. Famuyide revealed that over 1, 680 pastors were assembled for the service.

According to him the programme which started at the beginning of the year had to be put on hold because of the global coronavirus that ravaged the year 2020, but by the authority of the Church the ordination training had to be lifted after the global lockdown was also lifted across the world and most especially in Nigeria.

Stating the mission of the new set of ordained pastors, Pastor Famuyide described them as Pastors “Who are built as an endtime time army of the Lord to combat societal menace and snatch people from the net of the devil, pit of hell and bring them to the kingdom of the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

He charged the newly ordained pastors to go out and “preach the gospel without adulteration or sentiment, pray like the Apostles and CAC Founding Fathers, emphasise the primacy of holiness and shun the quest for materialism which has become the order of the day, exhibit an act of digging the Bible deep, live and maintain holy living and always keep the eternity in view irrespective of the challenges” faced by them.

The Student Leader Adebambo Samuel Ademola in his own address appreciated the Church authority for the privilege and assured them that the set of ordinands  comprised many potential and future leaders  that the Church authority could rely upon.

The student leader also led his thousands of colleagues to donate a brand new 100 kva power generating plant for the use of the camp auditorium to complement the other projects at the camp.

He also prided his colleagues in helping to meet the needs of the challenged members of the set.

In his special sermon at the service the General Superintendent, now the President designate, Pastor Samuel Oladele admonished the ordinands to live exemplary life and shun other things that might come to distract them from the gospel of the message of Jesus Christ, and to live to defend the legacies passed on to them by the founding fathers of the Church, taking his message from 21:1-19.

The colourful ceremony which drew ordinands from different parts of Nigeria was presided over by the outgoing President, Pastor A.O. Akinosun, ably assisted by the principal officers, Regional Superintendents and DCC Superintendents. The General Superintendent read the Charge and Declaration of Confession to the students while the president pronounced the ordination, and the General Evangelist Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji prayed for the ordinands.
