The death has occurred in Lagos of Prophet Amos Osab Agbonifo, who was until his death one of the living fathers of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas. He was the planter of CAC God’s Glory Zone, Ifako – Ijaye, Lagos.

Prophet Agbonifo, one of the close disciples of the legendary Prophet David Olulana Babajide died on Monday November 6, 2023 in Lagos at the age of 90 years.

Evangelist Agbonifo, according to Pastor Sam Omotosho, an Abuja based Pastor in CAC, “was among the First Set of Students at Prophet Babajide School Of Prophets and Evangelists, Ilesa, Osun State. He was a direct disciple of Baba David Olulana Babajide, the second and longest serving CAC General Evangelist ever!

“Baba Agbonifo was a preacher of holiness and righteousness, who served the Lord for over 65 years as a worker in CAC. He was also an effective deliverance minister, with signs and wonders following his ministry. Baba was happily married with most of his children currently serving as ministers (of God) around the world.”

Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in, in memory of the spiritual icon.

In a tribute monitored by PTL News, Bishop Paul Awoleke wrote, “Papa Agbonifo Amos, the Lord your God has sent you in this world; You came in and shook the world, imparting your generation, upcoming generations and nations with the raw power of the Holy Ghost. You always fight the good fight of faith, which you fought to the end. Salute to a true General of God who has gone to be with the Lord God.  Sleep and rest well from all your labours. Adieu Papa Agbonifo Amos. May God keep your entire family, the body of Christ and friends and your legacy in Jesus Christ.”

In his own tribute Pastor Sam Omotoso, noted that the body of Christ in Nigeria has been losing its patriarchs in droves and there must be need for prayers because, “death though is a necessary end, yet no one can pray for a total eradication of the tribe of those we have accepted as our living legends, either in the family, Church or nation! We still need our legends around, if not for anything, but for their impartation of power, authority and a release of godly wisdom! They need to pass their mantles to the in – coming generation of believers. I congratulate my brother, friend and associate, John Agbonifo and his siblings for surviving their father!”

Pastor John Afolayan of CAC Imo District Ilesa, a former District Superintendent under Pa Agbonifo’s Church also wrote, “My Papa, May your soul rest in perfect peace. My daddy. I will never forget you in my life. Your word of encouragement and prayers always is working in my life till date. Good Night.”

Pastor Peter Agboola, a retired Zonal Superintendent in CAC remarked, “Thanks for the life well spent by Baba Agbonifo. He was my visiting Pastor in the olden days. May God take care of all he left behind. RIP Baba.”

“A Field Marshal has gone to rest with the Lord. Baba was our excellent in-law married to our matriarch Mama from Isanlu in Kogi State Nigeria. Good night Baba and to the families left behind, Shalom to every Prophet. May God comfort you sir,” wrote Francis Kofoworola Iselowo, quoting John 14:1-3.

Evangelist Agbonifo was married to his beloved wife Lady Evangelist Margaret Olajumoke Agbonifo for over 60 years.

He will be remembered for his committed life to the things of God, his sacrificial giving, a disciplined and prayer ministerial life. He is survived by his wife and wonderful children and grandchildren.

Burial plans are expected to be released soon by CAC authority and members of his family.

Another father of faith in CAC, Prophet Michael Ojo Olowere who died in July, 2023 was also buried in Ibadan late in October this year.
