A body of concerned Christians has declared the month of November, the month of Generous Giving across the world. Tagged Generosity Month the body would be dedicating the month of October as a time to celebrate the joy of giving to make impact on the world.

According to a statement by the organizers,  “As the biggest spending months of the year approach, a group of global charities have come together to respond to the usual excesses of the festive period and dedicate the month of November to the joy that can be experienced by living a generous life.”

The body is brought together by the combined supporters of Generosity Path, Maclellan Foundation, TrustBridge Global, Generous Church, Jersey Road and Stewardship, expressing that the awareness month “will utilize the global influence of social media to raise awareness of generous living, and encourage shares, likes and comments.”

In launching the inaugural Generosity Month this November, 2024, the founding partners aim to inspire Christians around the world to both embrace generous living, as well as share stories of generosity with others. Focused on November, the ultimate aim is to create a year-round movement that focuses everyone’s minds on the happiness found in generosity.

The organisers also explained that supporters who sign up through the website https://generosity-month.com/ will receive daily devotions on topics related to generosity direct to their inbox, as well as social media assets that they can share with others to encourage them to be involved.

Steve Wood, Global Product and Marketing Director on behalf of founding member Generosity Path, said: “We know from recent published research that Christians are more generous than those without faith in Jesus, but there is still so much more that can be done.

“By bringing together these influential global charities as partners in Generosity Month, we can inspire so many around the world to be generous themselves, but also evangelize to others, using social media, about how joyful the act of generosity can be.

The body which intends to use the social media to create more awareness and mobilize participants for the project, further explained, “We are delighted to announce that our new Instagram channel, @GenerosityMonth, launches today, and that a number of Christian organizations, charities, missions and influencers have already signed up to create and post content during November as both inspiration and sharing opportunities.”

Bob Collins, Global Managing Director at partner TrustBridge Global added: “Living a generous life can mean so many things; it can be as simple as running errands for your elderly neighbour, volunteering time towards community fundraising causes, giving blood at your local blood bank, or donating care packages to low-income families.

“What makes Generosity Month so special is that we are connecting the global generosity network by embracing a generous mindset, supporting cross-border giving, and by encouraging people to give in different ways, be that money, volunteering time or specific hands-on skills.”

During November, the charities behind Generosity Month call on all Christians to get involved in the following ways; by following the Instagram channel @GenerosityMonth, registering for more information and email updates at https://generosity-month.com/ and using the hashtags #GenerosityMonth and #JoyofGenerosity to share content with others.

By the end of November, it is believed that the awareness would “lead to a lifetime of generosity and fuel a global movement to bring hope and transformation in our neighbourhoods, churches, and communities throughout the world.

“In this, its inaugural year, Generosity Month will use the power of social media to share this incredible Gospel message and help everyone who comes on the journey to take their first steps towards a new-found life of generosity,” the body explained.
