The death of the rising gospel music star Aduke Ajayi Morounkola popularly known as Aduke Gold has become a public knowledge. Her death according to sources occurred on Monday night August 12, 2024, at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan where she was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.

Aduke Gold was sighted by PTL News recently at a function in Lagos where she played as a guest musician. It was clear that all was not well with her as she sat down quietly leading her band from behind. She often sneaked to the mic to attend to her hosts when they made moves to appreciate her by spraying her cash.

The Ijesa born Nitori Ogo crooner was noted for her soulful and melodious music, composition and rendition.  She was an embodiment of hard work, dedication and commitment. She lived her short life without scandal.

Aduke Gold, born as Aduke Ajayi Morounkola released her breakthrough single, “Nitori Ogo” (“Because of Glory”), in 2021, which earned her a large following.

The well gifted musician was educated, holding a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University, with a scholarship from Senator Opeyemi Bamidele. She also obtained a higher degree in Child Psychology, and various Diplomas in Montessori Education. She was dedicated to working with children with special needs, including autism and dyslexia.

She was said to have battled vertigo and other health challenges without letting it affect her music message as a beacon of hope and inspiration to others. Vertigo can have causes that are not due to underlying disease. Examples include spinning in circles or medication side effects. Vertigo is also described as a sensation in which one feels as though you are moving, spinning, or off balance. Vertigo symptoms can be mild or extremely severe.

According to a source who is close to the deceased, Aduke Gold has been ill for two months before her painful death.

Meanwhile, top ministers of God and colleagues have been expressing shocks as they pay tributes to the memory of their fallen colleague.

Writing about her in a message of condolence, Prophet Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji, the General Evangelist, of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, said, “My heartfelt condolence goes out to you in your grief, dear Ajayis. Aduke Ajayi, also known as Aduke Gold, will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I know my words will never be enough to heal the broken hearts, but I pray that God’s grace wraps you all in its comforting embrace.

“Aduke Gold was a bright star, and her light shone through her music, a soul full of faith and love. While we may mourn the loss, her memories live on in our hearts. Her ministration and impact at the National Praise 2.0 at TBS Lagos is forever etched in our memories. To those who loved her, let us be rest assured that she lies in the glory and safety of eternal life. I pray the Lord gives peace and strength to the family at this time.”

Responding to her death, Prophet Sam Olu Alo simply wrote, “Hmmmmm, Ile aye, asan,” (This world, vanity).

Funke Akindele through her Social Media handle also penned, “Ahaaaaaaa this is another loss. Aduke Gold (Sebi Nitori Ogo Ni) Hmmmmmm this is very sad, Olohun jooo bawa dawo iku odo duro lawujo, bawa fi opin si iku awon odo lawujo, (O Lord, help us stop untimely death among our youths).

“In fact it’s terrible but Almighty God is unquestionable, who are we to question him? We can’t because He knows everything. May Almighty God forgive her shortcoming and console all her families and friends she left behind to bear the loss. Her picture everywhere since yesterday night, Olohun jooo, nínú anu re ma je kin fi iku l’okiki (Lord please, in your mercy, don’t let me be famous by death).”
